Grias di!
AT 2,661 M

You’ll find the Hintergrathütte mountain lodge sheltering in a rocky hollow surrounded by sparse yet bright green grass.

The rustic buildings from the 1920s offer sustenance and an alpine atmosphere and invite you to ascend the surrounding peaks. The triumvirate of Ortler, Zebrù, and Königsspitze stands guard over the lodge high above the valley, which bows before the mighty mountains and lies at your feet.

The mountain hut is reflected in the clear water of a mountain lake at the foot of Ortler

Rest & relax

Sleeping at 2,661 meters

Lie down side by side with your mountain companions, give your eyes a rest and let the mountain air do its work – something you can do on any of our mattresses! Our 80 “nests” are spread across three floors, divided into a dormitory and a number of rooms. Please note that we do not offer accommodation in winter! We may only be open from early June to early October, but during that time, we are fully operational. With 60 berths in the dormitory, we offer a mattress and a blanket to groups of hikers as well as fellow mountaineers.

A Lodge Family

That's us! The story of our lodge has lasted for 40 years now! And there's no end in sight, because we love this place, we love the mountains and the views, and we love the climbers. It's wonderful to see how tired hikers regain their strength after a bowl of dumpling soup and after a good night's sleep are able to tackle the 1,244 meters of climbing up to South Tyrol's highest summit. Want to know more about the interesting history of the Hintergrathütte?

THE DREIGESTIRN (TRIUMVIRATE)

Ortler, Zebrù, and Königsspitze. The highest summits in South Tyrol, Tyrol, and Trentino directly overlook us. The Hintergrathütte is located to the north-east of the Suldenferner and is the ideal base for climbing the Ortler via the Hintergrat ridge as well as other exciting mountain tours. And since the mountains are a world of their own that it’s important to be familiar with, we will advise you about the weather and potential hazards before you set out.
